The volume is an octavo and includes the printed title page and the additional engraved vignette title page and frontispiece by H. K. Browne, known as Phiz. The text block contains the standard suite of illustrations by Browne. A preliminary blank leaf bears a vertical handwritten ink inscription reading Martha L Hopkins. The printed title page identifies the publisher as Bradbury and Evans, 11, Bouverie Street, London, 1853.
