Description

This early 20th century brooch is crafted from 9 carat gold and features an intricate openwork design characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. The motif incorporates foliate and whiplash scroll elements. At the centre is a six-petalled flower set with a round turquoise-coloured cabochon. The scrolling frame is further accented with two smaller turquoise-coloured stones and two small round white seed pearls at the top and bottom terminals. The reverse is stamped with the gold purity mark 9CT and a maker’s mark SJB within an oval cartouche. The brooch is secured with a hinged pin and a C-clasp mechanism.
