Description

This collection comprises three pairs of Soviet post-1943 pattern shoulder boards and an extensive assortment of military buttons and insignia. The shoulder boards include a pair of red felt slides featuring yellow CA lettering, identifying them as Soviet Army (Sovietskaya Armiya) motorised infantry or combined arms issue for privates and non-commissioned officers. Also included is a pair of olive-drab field shoulder boards with a single longitudinal red stripe and three silver-toned metal stars arranged in a triangle, denoting the rank of Senior Lieutenant. The third pair consists of tan-coloured textured boards featuring gold-toned metal insignia depicting a parachute flanked by aircraft, specific to the VDV (Airborne Forces). The accompanying collection of buttons and insignia is international in scope, mounted on card or loose. Visible motifs include late 19th to early 20th-century Imperial Russian double-headed eagles and crowns, United States collar disks with US lettering, crossed rifles for infantry, and the caduceus of the Medical Corps. Soviet brass buttons featuring the five-pointed star with hammer and sickle are present, alongside various naval anchors, artillery cannons, and European heraldic crests. Materials include wool, felt, synthetic fabrics, brass, and various metal alloys.
