A Collection of GI 2005 Sterling Silver Proof £5 Coins, The Bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar
Description
A collection of commemorative sterling silver proof five pound coins issued by Gibraltar in 2005 to mark the Bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Struck in .925 fineness silver, the obverse of each coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf. The reverses, designed by Arjen Perdijk, depict various historical motifs including portraits of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson, HMS Victory, and strategic naval battle scenes. Several coins in the collection feature selective gold plating or coloured highlights. The coins are presented in a Westminster blue velvet-lined case bearing a portcullis logo and are accompanied by an informational binder. Each coin has a limited issue of 25,000.
