UK 2011 London 2012 Olympic Weightlifting 50 Pence Coin in Athletics PNC
Description
A United Kingdom cupro-nickel 50 pence coin issued by the Royal Mint in 2011 as part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games series. The reverse features the weightlifting design depicting an athlete performing a lift with a barbell. The coin is mounted within a Royal Mail Philatelic Numismatic Cover (PNC) from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sports Cover Collection. Although the coin depicts weightlifting, the presentation card is themed for Athletics, featuring a dot-matrix graphic of relay runners and a 1st class postage stamp showing an athlete on a track. The stamp is cancelled with a special pictorial London 2012 postmark dated 12 October 2010. The coin is struck to Brilliant Uncirculated quality and is held within a clear protective aperture.
