1999-2000 UK Millennium Moment Philatelic Numismatic Cover with Five-Pound Crown
Description
A Royal Mint and Royal Mail Millennium Moment philatelic numismatic cover. The set comprises a United Kingdom five-pound cupro-nickel commemorative crown issued to mark the transition to the year 2000. The coin reverse depicts a stylized clock face set at midnight overlaid with a map of the British Isles and Western Europe centred on the Greenwich meridian, inscribed with the dates 1999 and 2000. The obverse features the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The coin is housed in a dark blue presentation folder alongside a first-day cover featuring four stamps. The stamps bear postmarks from Greenwich, London, for both the last day of 1999 (31.12.99) and the first day of 2000 (01.01.00). The folder exterior is embossed with the Roman numerals MCMXCIX and MM.
