A Collection of Vintage Advertising Ashtrays and Promotional Items
Description
A collection of vintage promotional items, primarily featuring British brewery and tobacco branding from the mid-to-late 20th century. The assortment includes a white square ceramic ashtray with Bass Charrington printed on the front rim and a red and orange circular graphic in the well. There is a black ceramic oval ashtray for William Bass and Company, featuring incised lettering on the rim stating Brewers in Burton on Trent since 1777 and a central well with the Bass red triangle trademark, gold script, and a facsimile signature. The lot also features a large rectangular ceramic ashtray with a white exterior and a deep red glazed interior well, branded for Benson and Hedges and Silk Cut. A white square ceramic ashtray features the Martini brand logo on the front rim, while a small, circular, dark green glazed ceramic ashtray with yellow lettering for Greene King is also included. The collection is completed by a small, black rectangular promotional item featuring a gold logo for the Woolwich Equitable Building Society.
