Late Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold Five Stone Gypsy Set Ring Birmingham 1894
Description
A late Victorian 18ct yellow gold band ring, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1894. The ring is designed with a tapering shank and a slightly domed head, gypsy-set with five small circular-cut stones in a single row. The stones feature an alternating colour sequence consisting of three red stones and two pale blue stones. Each stone is flush-set within decorative star-shaped incisions carved into the gold. The interior of the shank bears a full set of British hallmarks, including the crown and 18 for 18 carat gold, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, and the date letter u for the year 1894.
