A Collection of Five Thorntons Promotional Brown Glazed Ceramic Jars and a Delivery Van Money Box

This lot comprises five vintage promotional ceramic items produced for the British confectionery company Thorntons. The collection is crafted from earthenware or stoneware and finished in a uniform, glossy dark brown glaze with relief-moulded lettering. The items include three circular toffee jars of varying designs with fitted lids and central knops, one tall cylindrical lidded jar, and a novelty money box modelled in the form of an early 20th-century delivery van. The delivery van features a coin slot on the roof and bears the raised lettering Thorntons Chocolates on the side panels. The jars are variously marked with relief-moulded inscriptions including Thorntons Special Toffee and Thorntons Estd 1911 in both block and script fonts. These items were popular collectibles produced by various British potteries throughout the mid-to-late 20th century.
