Description

An assortment of decorative and promotional ceramic items, primarily dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. The collection includes a pair of seated elephant money boxes, one in a cobalt blue glaze and one in matt grey, both featuring red and gold saddle cloths and incised with Williamson to the forehead. Commercial and promotional wares comprise a blue-glazed earthenware money box in the form of a Boots delivery van, a black glazed Harrods jar for Blue Stilton with gold transfer-printed lettering and a fitted lid, a honey-glazed tankard for Rothmans of Pall Mall featuring a coach and horses, and a rectangular blue ceramic Milky Way bank. The grouping further includes a square yellow relief-moulded tea caddy with a teapot-shaped finial, a white jug with an applied three-dimensional teddy bear figure, a white mug with a transfer-printed scene of a timber-framed building, and a black glazed mug with stylized white graphic figures. The items are constructed from glazed earthenware and stoneware with various decoration techniques including transfer-printing, relief moulding, and hand-painting.
