The auction will start in __ days and __ hours __ minutes

Description

A pair of late 19th or early 20th-century salt-glazed stoneware flagons originating from Taunton, Somerset. The smaller flagon features a honey-brown salt-glaze shoulder over a cream-coloured body, constructed with a single loop handle and a secondary dispensing spout at the base. The shoulder is incised with the impressed lettering JAMES HEWETT TAUNTON. The larger flagon exhibits a deep amber-brown shoulder over a light cream body, featuring a circular black transfer-printed merchant mark on the shoulder reading W.B. HELLARD WINE MERCHANT TAUNTON, embellished with decorative scrolls. Both vessels serve as examples of regional breweriana and merchant advertising from the Somerset area.
