Lot 158:
A Collection of English Pewter and Mixed Metal Tankards and Hip Flasks
Description
A collection of metal drinking vessels and hip flasks produced in various forms and materials, including pewter, brass, and stainless steel. The group comprises several tankards in straight-sided cylindrical, barrel-shaped, and bulbous tulip forms, all featuring scroll handles. One polished tankard bears a faint engraved inscription to the front. The selection of hip flasks includes an ornate example with scrollwork engraving, a rectangular flask with a central red star emblem, a torus-shaped ring flask, and a glass-bodied flask featuring a metal screw cap and a removable metal lower sleeve. The styles and construction are consistent with 20th-century English pewter-ware and mixed metal barware. No manufacturer marks are clearly legible.
