A collection of British military and personal ephemera associated with W. Palmer of Middlesbrough. The archive includes an original copy of the Daily Herald newspaper dated 11 December 1936, featuring the front-page headline ‘CRISIS’ concerning the abdication of King Edward VIII. Military documentation comprises a red-covered Regular Army Certificate of Service and a small blue leather-bound volume featuring a gold-embossed GR monogram beneath a crown. Additional volumes include a gold-toned book with an embossed central icon and two small leather-bound pocket books. The photographic archive contains sepia and black-and-white images, including a First World War period portrait of a soldier in uniform with family members, a photograph of two men in Second World War period tropical uniform, and portraits of women in 1920s-30s attire. A regimental-style necktie is included, featuring diagonal red stripes on a navy blue ground with repeated yellow heraldic crests.
