Daughters of Scotia Gilt Metal and Enamel Fraternal Medallion
Description
An oval fraternal organisational medallion, likely a locket, for the Daughters of Scotia (D.O.S.), an auxiliary to the Order of Scottish Clans. The piece is constructed from gilt metal with red and blue enamel. The outer border features red guilloché enamel and is inscribed with the letters D, O, and S. The central blue enamel reserve displays gold-tone symbolic elements including a sunburst with an all-seeing eye, a palm frond, a scythe, and a shield containing a triangle within a circle. The medallion is fitted with a small suspension loop and a decorative tab. The reverse is plain gilt metal with a central indentation.
