Description
A 2001 British Gold Sovereign struck by the Royal Mint. The reverse features the classic design by Benedetto Pistrucci depicting Saint George slaying the dragon, with the date 2001 located in the exergue. The obverse bears the fourth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The coin is struck in 22-carat gold, representing a fineness of 0.917. The item is presented on a black circular foam insert. As is characteristic of British sovereign coinage, there are no marks for weight or purity on the surfaces. BU
