Two pieces of Masonic interest comprising a commemorative 1962 steward's jewel and festival souvenir booklet for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls
Description
This lot contains two items related to the 174th Anniversary Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls held on 9 May 1962. The first item is a commemorative steward’s jewel of gilt-metal and enamel construction. The top bar features red enamel with the inscription STEWARD in gold-tone lettering. It is suspended by a white silk ribbon adorned with a gilt monogram of the letters RMIG. The circular pendant has a blue and white enamel border inscribed ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR GIRLS 1962. The centre displays the enamelled arms for the Province of Devonshire, depicting a three-masted ship, two towers, and an open book. The second item is a staple-bound souvenir booklet with soft card covers titled The Royal Masonic Institution for Girls: 174th Anniversary Festival. It identifies the President of the Festival as R. W. Bro. C. H. Crews P.G.D., Provincial Grand Master for Devonshire. The interior includes black and white photographic plates showing pupils at the Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth and the Junior School in Weybridge, as well as a printed blazon describing the provincial arms incorporated into the festival badge.
