A Collection of Antique and Vintage Copper and Brass Decorative and Domestic Metalware

This lot comprises an assortment of copper and brass domestic and decorative items, largely dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, reflecting Victorian, Edwardian, and Arts and Crafts styles. Copper items include a large water pitcher with a martelé (hammered) finish and a riveted strap handle; an Art Nouveau style crumb tray and matching brush featuring repoussé scrolled foliate and floral motifs; and a small copper spoon or ladle with a rounded bowl. Brass items include a letter rack with pierced foliate side panels; a circular tray with a deeply scalloped rim and hammered centre; a smaller circular tray holding a chamberstick with a finger-loop handle and thumb rest; and a rectangular box with a slanted hinged lid, in the style of a miniature coal purdonium. The collection also features two small cylindrical lidded pots with ornate cast decorative covers; a small bowl with internal repoussé foliate decoration; a desk accessory base or paperweight; a mounting piece with a large open loop; a cylindrical apparatus constructed from brass and glass, possibly a lamp component or specialized tool; and a set of miniature balance scales on a stand. No maker’s marks are visible on the items.
