A Collection of Vintage Games including Mahjong and Various Card Games

This collection comprises a traditional Mahjong set and several boxed card games from the mid-20th century. The Mahjong set is contained within three cardboard trays and includes a full complement of tiles featuring character, bamboo, circle, wind, and dragon suits. The tiles are constructed with a white playing surface dovetailed onto a natural wood or bamboo base. Accompanying the set are four L-shaped tile racks made of green plastic. The assortment of card games includes Kan-U-Go, The Crossword Card Game, produced by Porterprint Ltd. Also included is the commodities-trading game Pit, described on the box as The World’s Liveliest Party Game. The collection features a box of Jaques’ Original Happy Families from the Pepys Series, showing a caricature illustration on the lid. Completing the group is a deck of Castella playing cards, a promotional item for the tobacco company W.D. and H.O. Wills. All games are housed in their original or period cardboard packaging.
