Lot 212:
A Collection of Late Victorian and Edwardian British Beverage Bottles
Description
This collection comprises an assortment of late 19th and early 20th-century British beverage bottles. Included is a two-tone glazed stoneware bottle for Hanbury and Cotching of Taunton, Somerset. The vessel is finished in a cream glaze with a honey-tan coloured shoulder and neck, featuring a black transfer-printed circular seal for Brewed Ginger Beer. The group also includes several aqua-coloured glass mineral water bottles of the Codd-neck variety, designed to be sealed with an internal glass marble. These bottles feature various embossed regional markings and decorative motifs, with one example displaying the Prince of Wales feathers crest and a small handwritten paper label. Additionally, there is a single dark olive-green glass bottle of typical stout or beer form with a circular embossed seal to the body. The glass bottles are of moulded construction.
