The auction will start in __ days and __ hours __ minutes

Description

An octagonal occasional table dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The top is constructed with a light-toned wood veneer, possibly satinwood or light mahogany, featuring a central inlaid marquetry starburst motif within concentric circular stringing and a secondary inlaid octagonal border. The outer edge of the table top is finished with a wide, dark-stained wood border featuring deep relief carving in a repeating scrolling foliate or wave pattern. The table is supported by a folding X-frame or tripod-style base constructed from a darker hardwood, likely mahogany. The legs are connected by cross-stretchers and are hinged, allowing the base to be collapsed for storage. The design exhibits influences of the Aesthetic Movement and Anglo-Indian colonial furniture styles. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the piece.
