Mason's Ironstone Fruit Basket Pattern Lidded Ginger Jar

A Mason’s Patent Ironstone China lidded ginger jar of bulbous form, crafted from ironstone earthenware. The jar is decorated in the Fruit Basket pattern featuring a multi-colour transfer-printed design of a woven basket overflowing with various fruits, including grapes, pears, and plums, set against a background of autumnal leaves and berries. The lid and shoulder of the jar are finished with a scrolled border in a mulberry-coloured transfer print. The base displays a red transfer-printed maker’s mark consisting of a crown above two banners reading MASON’S and PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA. Below this, the pattern name Fruit Basket is printed in script, followed by ENGLAND and the text GUARANTEED DETERGENT PROOF & ACID RESISTING COLOURS in block capitals. A small hand-painted green mark is also visible on the base.
