A Collection of J & G Meakin Sol Ware Ceramic Serving Pieces

A collection of early 20th-century J & G Meakin Sol ware ceramic serving items. The group is manufactured from cream-coloured earthenware and features a multi-coloured transfer-printed pattern comprising floral swags and a geometric border with blue, red, and yellow detailing. The collection includes a large oval lidded tureen with twin handles and a pedestal foot, a circular lidded vegetable dish with twin handles, a gravy boat with a matching oval underplate, and several plates. The handles and finials are decorated with matching coloured line accents. The base of the pieces carries the printed maker’s mark consisting of a rising sun with a face and rays, surrounded by the text BY SOL REGD 391413 J & G MEAKIN ENGLAND.
