A Contemporary Recycled Metal Key Bowl

A contemporary decorative bowl of upcycled construction, fashioned from an assortment of reclaimed metal door and cabinet keys. The piece is formed into a concave, circular vessel with the individual keys joined by weld spots at various points of contact. The assembly incorporates a mixture of cylinder and mortice-style keys. The surface is finished with a dark, uniform brown-black patina. While no maker’s mark for the assembled object is present, the individual keys bear various manufacturer stamps and numbers, including 1005, LOCK, and MAGNUS. This style of metalwork is consistent with artisanal recycled ironware, such as those produced for fair-trade organisations.
