A late 19th or early 20th-century vibrating shuttle sewing machine manufactured by Frister & Rossmann of Berlin, Germany. The machine is constructed of black enamelled cast iron and decorated with ornate gilt floral and scrollwork decals. The arm bears the maker name Frister & Rossmann in gold lettering, and the bed plate features a circular trade mark decal with intertwined letters F and R, inscribed Trade-Mark and Berlin. The machine is mounted on a wooden base and is accompanied by its original wooden dome-shaped cover, which features a marquetry-inlaid geometric border. Also included is a small metal accessory box containing long-style bobbins, multiple presser feet, a piece of tailors’ wax, and associated paper ephemera.
