A brass fireplace fender of U-shaped form, intended for hearth placement. The piece features a substantial front rail with a stepped base and a relief-moulded bead-and-reel border along the upper edge. The two front corners are embellished with applied scrollwork brackets featuring acanthus leaf motifs. The fender includes two return arms extending to the rear. The brass exhibits a golden-toned finish with areas of darker oxidation and aged patina. No maker marks, hallmarks, or serial numbers are visible on the exterior surfaces of the piece.
