The body is covered in mottled grey and brown fur, with sculpted, three-toed feet and four-fingered hands finished in a weathered bone colour. The owl is dressed in a multi-layered costume consisting of a dark brown velvet-style jacket with metallic braided trim, a brown and gold brocade waistcoat with a diamond pattern and four faux-pearl buttons, and a tiered ruffled collar. A double-link silver-toned metal chain is draped around the neck. The figure stands upon a base designed as two stacked, distressed books. On the spine of the upper book, there are vertical red characters reading H, O, M, E, R followed by the numerals 2, 0, 0. No other maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
