A cast bronze relief plaque by the sculptor Sir William Hamo Thornycroft. The rectangular form features a central female figure in classical robes within a landscape of foxgloves and trees. In the lower left corner is an impressed signature reading Hamo Thornycroft RA with the letters Sc impressed below. The lower section of the plaque features a raised scroll with the cast inscription PRESENTED BY TOOGOOD AND SONS LTD SOVTHAMPTON SEEDSMEN TO H·M·THE KING. To the left side is a vertical scroll with the cast inscription OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP SILVER PRIZE WON BY. The space intended for the winner’s name remains unengraved and blank. The bronze has a dark brown patina and is cast in the naturalist style of the New Sculpture movement.
