This collection of decorative cloisonne enamelware is constructed from metal with wirework cloisons filled with various coloured enamels. The assortment includes a large circular lidded box with a translucent red ground featuring an engine-turned geometric pattern and a central floral spray of yellow and pink blossoms. A smaller bulbous jar with a domed lid is decorated with flowering prunus branches against a dark blue ground. A stylised owl figurine is rendered in blue, green, and pink enamels with concentric wirework detailing for the eyes. A small lidded vase with a red ground features polychrome peony motifs. A further small circular box displays a bird among foliage on a pale green ground. The set also includes six thimbles, each with a textured gold-tone metal cap and various cloisonne patterns on the bodies including birds and flowers. No maker’s marks, reign marks, or labels are visible on the exterior surfaces of the pieces shown. A chalk inscription on the background surface in image 2 appears to read Japan, though no corresponding marks are visible on the objects themselves.
