An Edwardian Sterling Silver Open-Face Key-Wind Pocket Watch with Gold-Tone Albert Chain and Fob
Description
This open-face pocket watch features a hallmarked sterling silver case and is accompanied by a gold-tone metal Albert chain. The silvered dial is embellished with a central gold-tone floral and foliate wreath, black Roman numeral hour markers, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position. The timepiece is key-wound and set via an aperture in the inner cuvette. Stamped marks to the interior of the case back include a sponsor mark with the letters RH within a rectangular shield, a lion passant indicating sterling silver, and an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office. A lowercase letter i in a cut-corner shield dates the piece to 1908. The serial number 13579 is impressed below the hallmarks. The watch is paired with a curb-link gold-tone Albert chain featuring a T-bar and a circular medallion fob.
