Lot 81:
An Assortment of Silver and Silver-Plated Tableware and Flatware
Description
A collection of assorted silver-toned tableware and flatware items, comprising tea service components, serving utensils, and a boxed christening set. The collection features a Victorian-style teapot with heavily embossed scrolling foliate and floral motifs throughout the body, a hinged lid with a decorative finial, and a scroll handle fitted with heat insulators. A matching two-handled open sugar bowl or vessel displays the same decorative scheme and shape. The set includes an Art Deco style pot with a faceted, tapered body, stepped lid, and a simple pedestal base. A tall, slender coffee pot features an ebonised scroll handle and a thumb-piece on the lid; the body is decorated with an engraved foliate spray that appears to have a gilt-toned finish. A boxed christening set consists of a small, plain mug and a matching spoon, presented in a pink fabric-lined patterned box. The flatware includes a long cake server with an ornate, pierced blade featuring scrolling designs, and a smaller pastry server with a triangular perforated blade and a geometric handle. Small darkened areas are visible on the bodies of the embossed teapot and sugar bowl where hallmarks or maker’s marks are located, but these are not legible. Faint indentations are present on the flatware handles, though no characters can be distinguished.
