A United Kingdom commemorative silver proof five pound crown issued by the Royal Mint in 1990 to mark the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The coin is struck in sterling (.925) silver. The obverse features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI·GRATIA·REGINA·F·D and the denomination FIVE POUNDS. The reverse, designed by Leslie Durbin, displays a central monogram of the letter E entwined with a bow, flanked by a rose and thistle and surmounted by a crown, inscribed QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER and the dates 1900 and 1990. The coin is housed in a clear protective capsule and presented in a blue velvet-lined Royal Mint case. The interior lid of the case features a printed crest and the text ROYAL MINT. Accompanied by a printed Certificate of Authenticity from the Royal Mint, Llantrisant, Mid Glamorgan CF7 8YT, United Kingdom, which includes technical specifications and the signature of A. D. Garrett, Deputy Master.
