Lot 130:
A Swiss 0.935 Silver Open Face Key Wind Pocket Watch with Enamel Floral Dial
Description
A Swiss-made silver-cased open-face pocket watch featuring a key-wind and key-set movement. The white enamel dial is decorated with a hand-painted central wreath of flowers in red, blue, and green, surrounded by black Roman numeral hour markers and a rail-track minute ring. The time is indicated by a gold-toned spade-style hour hand and a thin needle-style minute hand. The silver case features a hinged back with engine-turned decoration, a floral engraved border, and a central vacant scrolled cartouche. The interior of the case back is stamped with several marks: the number 64320 is impressed at the upper left; a rectangular cartouche containing the numerals 935 is at the centre; above this is a small impressed mark of a bear standing on all fours; to the right are two smaller, identical impressed marks, each depicting a bear standing on all fours. These marks signify a silver purity of .935, a standard used in Switzerland for export. A small circular mark at the bottom edge contains the letters G K. The interior dust cover features two apertures for winding and setting the movement with a key. The watch is fitted with a circular bow for attachment to a chain or fob.
