A circular porcelain wall-hanging plate produced in Denmark. The obverse features a bas-relief scene in cobalt blue underglaze depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The text, rendered in a transfer-print style over a background of the document’s script, includes 1976 and the inscription IN CONGRESS, JULY 4, 1776, above The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America. The central composition is framed by a border of stars and a stylized laurel leaf motif. The reverse of the plate bears several marks: a green printed crown device above a circular mark reading ROYAL COPENHAGEN DENMARK; three hand-painted wavy blue lines; the initials RS in blue; the words UNITED STATES BICENTENARY in green; and a hand-painted green mark reading JX. The foot rim is pre-drilled with two holes and currently holds a metal wire hanger.
