A circular yellow gold front locket pendant featuring elaborate hand engraving. The face of the locket is divided into two decorative fields. The left-hand section is heavily ornamented with deep foliate-scroll engraving, featuring fan-like textured detailing within the curves. The right-hand section is a plain, polished field with a scalloped "pie crust" outer edge. The top is fitted with an ornate, cast scrolling surmount. Stamped into the polished field on the front are the characters 9CT FRONT. This mark indicates that the front plate of the locket is 9 carat gold, constructed over a base metal core or back. The locket is suspended from a simple jump ring.
