Lot 144:
A Trio of Mid-Century and Antique Ceramic Items Including Wadsworth Ware Saucer
Description
This lot comprises an assortment of three ceramic items: a footed studio pottery bowl, an octagonal saucer, and a small teapot with lid.
The Italian earthenware boat-shaped bowl features four small conical feet and is finished in a vibrant turquoise and blue textured glaze. The body is decorated with deeply incised geometric patterns including chevrons and circles. The base is hand-marked in black script with ITALY and a series of characters reading B 70 / 17.
An octagonal earthenware saucer is decorated in an Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt, featuring a central floral and geometric motif. The reverse bears a printed black mark reading Wadsworth Ware England. Adjacent to this is a hand-painted mark consisting of two lines meeting at an angle.
The small globular earthenware teapot and matching lid are decorated with an underglaze blue transfer print depicting a traditional landscape scene with trees and buildings. The teapot features a curved spout and loop handle. The base is unglazed at the rim and shows no legible maker’s marks.
