A Collection of Mason's Ironstone Decorative Christmas Plates

A collection of six ironstone earthenware decorative plates manufactured by Mason’s, England. Each circular plate features a central transfer-printed landscape scene in sepia tones depicting various English stately homes or castles. These central vignettes include printed inscriptions for specific years of issue, with visible dates including Christmas 1977, Christmas 1979, Christmas 1980, and Christmas 1981. The central scenes are enclosed within a broad decorative border of polychrome flowers and scrolling foliage set against either a deep navy blue or maroon ground. The plates are finished with scalloped rims and gilt-line detailing. Five plates are housed in their original green cardboard presentation boxes featuring a portrait of Miles Mason (1752-1822) and the text Miles Mason Chinaman. One plate remains in its original plastic wrapping.
