A Collection of Seven West Country Cider Interest and Decorative Ceramic Mugs and Loving Cups
Description
A collection of seven ceramic mugs and two-handled loving cups, primarily featuring West Country cider interest and decorative transfer-printed patterns. The group includes a cream-coloured earthenware loving cup with a black transfer-printed logo for Taunton Dry Blackthorn Cider, mentioning maturation at Norton Fitzwarren. Also present is a miniature white earthenware loving cup for The Taunton Cider Company featuring a polychrome logo with a red letter T and apples, attributed to Wade Potteries. Another small loving cup displays a black transfer-printed interior scene of a cooperage or cellar. A larger loving cup is decorated with green transfer-printed botanical sprays. The collection further includes a tall mug with a continuous blue transfer-printed landscape scene featuring figures and trees, a red transfer-printed mug with a gilt rim inscribed Million 1994 Gallons, and a mug featuring multi-coloured floral transfer patterns in the style of Mason’s for Crabtree & Evelyn. The items exhibit various forms including cylindrical mugs and traditional twin-handled loving cups.
