Seven Earthenware Loving Cups and Mugs for the Taunton Cider Company

A collection of seven glazed earthenware promotional loving cups and mugs, attributed to Wade Pottery and produced for the Taunton Cider Company of Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset. The group comprises one large three-handled loving cup and six two-handled cups of varying sizes. The three-handled vessel is decorated with black transfer prints including a central crest with the mottoes I AM THE TRUE VINE and BLOOD IS OUR TRUST, a verse regarding agricultural self-sufficiency, and a floral interior rim. One large two-handled cup features a traditional blue and white landscape scene, while another displays polychrome Chinoiserie-style decoration with figures in garden settings and floral borders. The smaller vessels include a matching pair of cream-glazed mugs for Dry Blackthorn Cider with black transfer text, and two white-glazed mugs with different iterations of the Taunton Cider Company logo in polychrome and orange.
