A Collection of 20th-Century Decorative Glazed Earthenware Pitchers, Vases, and Novelty Wares
Description
This collection comprises an assortment of ceramic items, primarily decorative jugs, pitchers, and vases, executed in glazed earthenware. The group demonstrates various mid-20th century styles and decorative techniques, including solid, mottled, and hand-painted glazes. Notable pieces include two novelty jugs modelled as castle turrets in yellow and green glazes; a tall white pitcher with a scroll handle and scalloped base; and a red and white striped pitcher accented with gilding. Other forms present include a blue disc-form jug, a bulbous blue jug with an overhead handle, a mustard yellow relief-moulded teapot, and two decorative baskets, one featuring hand-painted floral motifs. Also included are a brown mottled pitcher with a contrasting orange interior, a multi-coloured striped pitcher, and a white pitcher with hand-painted abstract decoration. These pieces are in the style of British commercial potteries such as Wade, Sylvac, and Falcon Ware. No maker marks are visible in the provided image.
