A Collection of Mid-20th Century Glazed Ceramic Decorative Dishes and Animal Figurines in the style of Wade
Description
A group of assorted mid-century glazed ceramic items, including various pin dishes, trinket bowls, and animal figurines. The collection features several small circular and oval pin dishes in green, yellow, black, and dark green glazes, each with an applied animal figure such as a polar bear, dog, and bird. Other animal-themed items include a dish shaped like a cat head with painted facial features, a textured brown fish-shaped dish with scale detailing, and a tree-trunk style dish with an applied deer figurine. Also included are a large hedgehog figurine with incised spine detail, a detailed turtle figure with a patterned shell, and a lidded box modelled as a wooden treasure chest with strapping detail. Decorative bowls include a yellow fluted bowl with a central pedestal topped with a swan and child figure, a variegated purple and blue drip-glaze bowl, and a small yellow wavy-edged dish. The pieces exhibit characteristics associated with mid-20th-century British manufacturers from the Staffordshire region, specifically resembling the work of Wade and Beswick. No factory marks are visible on the upper surfaces.
