A 19th Century Mahogany Scientific Instrument Base and Storage Case

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours __ minutes

Description

A 19th-century scientific instrument base and storage case constructed from mahogany. The rectangular top features inlaid dark wood stringing around the perimeter and is fitted with a central circular brass mounting collar containing a threaded aperture for securing an instrument. Below the top is a single full-width drawer with a turned black handle. The drawer interior is currently lined with white paper. No maker’s marks, inscriptions, or engraved scales are visible on the exterior or within the drawer. The style and materials are typical of 19th-century British scientific instrument cabinetry, likely designed for a portable microscope or surveying level.
