Two Southern African Beaded Ethnographic Items

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours __ minutes

Description

Two beaded ethnographic objects from Southern Africa, likely of Zulu or Ndebele origin, comprising a rectangular panel, a fly whisk, and a tassel cord. The rectangular panel is densely worked with glass seed beads in multiple colours, featuring central diamond motifs flanked by smaller geometric patterns in yellow, red, blue, green, white, and black. It is finished with twisted yellow cord ties, suggesting its use as a ceremonial belt or apron element. The fly whisk features a wooden handle with a central portion encased in a woven beaded sleeve of green, red, white, and black geometric patterns. One end is leather-bound with a plume of long, coarse brown animal hair, and the opposite end features a leather hanging loop and a long, twisted green cord terminating in strands of multi-coloured beaded tassels.
