An Assortment of African Themed Decorative and Ethnographic Style Objects

A collection comprising several decorative items of African theme and origin. The group includes a shallow conical woven basket made from coiled natural fibres, featuring a repeating geometric pattern of stepped triangles in shades of brown and cream with a whip-stitched rim. A small bust of a male figure is carved from grey-brown soapstone with a textured, rounded hairstyle and traditional facial features, characteristic of Shona soapstone carving. A stylised wall mask or sculpture is carved from a dark, dense hardwood, possibly ebony, depicting an elongated face with narrow eyes and a small chin beard. A relief-cast figure in a brass-toned alloy depicts a robed individual with a circular loop at the head; the base is cast with the word AFRICA. Completing the collection is a beaded pineapple ornament constructed from faceted amber and green glass beads on a wire frame, presented on a wrought metal vine-form stand adorned with clusters of purple glass beads representing grapes and metal leaf accents.
