A Pair of Vintage Shell Petrol Can Caps

A pair of vintage cast brass-alloy caps for petroleum cans or drums, featuring the branding of the Shell Oil Company. The first cap is a two-lug variant with the word SHELL embossed in block lettering across the face. The second cap is a four-lug design with the SHELL name embossed in the centre and retains significant portions of its original green painted finish in the recessed areas. This second cap also bears an embossed manufacturer mark M&B within an oval on one peripheral lug. Both items feature internal threading to the underside for attachment to a canister or drum neck.
