A Collection of Gladstone China Bone China Tea and Coffee Ware in Pattern 2086

This set of fine bone china was manufactured by Gladstone China (Gladstone Pottery Co. Ltd) of Longton, Staffordshire, England. The collection is decorated in pattern 2086, characterised by a vibrant yellow ground and extensive gilded ornamentation. The design features wide yellow borders accented with a gilded Greek key or meander pattern, while the white porcelain bodies are decorated with delicate gilded foliate swags and scrolls. Small polychrome floral sprays are visible within the yellow sections on the platter and jugs. The set comprises a tall lidded pot, two jugs of varying forms, an open sugar bowl, a large oval twin-handled serving platter, and multiple teacups and saucers. The rims, handles, and finials are heavily gilded. The base of the pieces bears a printed mark in dark underglaze consisting of a crown above the words GLADSTONE CHINA, G. P. & CO, and MADE IN ENGLAND. A hand-painted pattern number 2086 is also present in gold or reddish-brown.
