Description

A wall-mounted aneroid barometer of banjo form featuring an integrated thermometer. The case is constructed from carved oak with a dark-stained finish and features scrolled terminals at both ends. The circular barometer dial is made of silvered metal and protected by a glass cover within a dark bezel. The dial is engraved with a scale from 28 to 31 inches of mercury and includes weather indications in Gothic and serif fonts reading Stormy, RAIN, Change, FAIR, and Very Dry. Two instructional text blocks are positioned either side of the central axis, providing forecasting information related to barometric rises and falls. The instrument is equipped with a black indicator hand and a secondary brass-coloured hand for manual setting via the central knob. Mounted in the neck of the case is a thermometer with a glass-enclosed tube on a silvered metal plate, featuring scales for both Fahrenheit and Centigrade. A printed text at the base of the main dial reads MADE IN ENGLAND. No specific manufacturer name is visible on the instrument.
