An English earthenware wall pocket vase manufactured by Shorter & Son Ltd. The piece features a stylized, ribbed ‘beehive’ form that tapers towards a rounded base. It is flanked by two large relief-moulded acanthus leaves that form decorative side borders. The vessel is finished in a pale blue-white semi-matte glaze, with the foliate details highlighted in a pale green glaze wash to accentuate the relief moulding. The reverse is flat and includes a keyhole-shaped aperture for wall mounting.

The reverse features a blue printed backstamp in a four-line vertical layout which reads: SHORTER & SON LTD, STOKE-ON-TRENT, ENGLAND. Three small circular stilt marks from the kiln firing process are visible on the unglazed areas of the reverse.
