Description

A collection of fifteen vintage commemorative and sporting medals, primarily focused on British school athletics and religious education. The group features a multi-part Sunday School Attendance Medal consisting of a white and blue enamel cross-shaped pendant with a central book icon reading HOLY BIBLE, surrounded by the text SUNDAY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE MEDAL. It is suspended from a blue fabric ribbon mounted with five blue enamel bars reading SECOND YEAR, THIRD YEAR, FOURTH YEAR, FIFTH YEAR, and SIXTH YEAR.

The remainder of the collection comprises fourteen individual medals of varied compositions, including bronze-toned and silver-toned metals. Several medals depict classical relief scenes of track and field events, such as relay runners and hurdlers. Specific inscriptions include one silver-toned medal in a red box reading INTER-COUNTY ATHLETICS 1951, a bronze-toned medal reading P.S.S.C. INTER-UNIT CHAMPIONSHIP 1951, and a further medal inscribed INDIVIDUAL TIME. Many examples are housed in their original, small cardboard presentation boxes in red, blue, and patterned finishes. Several medals retain their suspension loops for ribbons.
