A military merit breast badge for the 2nd Volunteer Division Fiamme Nere (Black Flames) of the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale (MVSN). The award is of two-piece construction, featuring a silver-tone Maltese-style cross set against a circular laurel wreath. A count’s crown is positioned to the left (proper right) of the cross. The centre is mounted with a gilded shield, quartered with relief details: the first and fourth quarters display the Fiamme Nere insignia consisting of a gladius and three stars, while the second and third quarters show a plain cross representing the Cross of Savoy. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal brass-tone pin and a simple C-clasp, secured to a circular reinforcement plate. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or country of origin stamps are visible on the reverse of the badge.
