Description
A lot consisting of two decorative ceramic plates. The first is a fine bone china plate produced in Staffordshire, England, featuring a traditional Imari-inspired design in cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt. The pattern consists of a central floral medallion within a segmented border of alternating floral and geometric panels. The reverse bears a green printed mark for The Baroness Crown, Engraved by Staffordshire Craftsmen, Baroness Fine China, and includes a hand-painted signature in brown script for B Ansell. The second item is a Russian porcelain collector’s plate dated 1988, from a series depicting Russian fairy tales. The central illustration, designed by artist Gleb Lyubimov in the Palekh miniature style, depicts a scene from Alexander Pushkin’s poem Ruslan and Lyudmila on a black ground with a gilt scroll border. The reverse includes extensive Cyrillic text, the Bradex number 60-V25-1.1, and pre-drilled holes in the foot rim for wall hanging.
